HELENA COOPER

FEATURED ARTIST

CIC endeavors to promote community and creativity. Throughout the year we hope to feature artists from all around the world. With much excitement we’d like to present our current and FIRST featured artist: Helena Cooper. To the right is her photograph titled “Autumn”, from Helena’s “Legends” series of the NaturezaCura collection.

Cooper’s art is known for highlighting a profound connection with the elemental world of nature and with the mysterious depths of the unconscious. In addition to having been a painter all of her life, she has also been exploring photography from the eyes of an abstract painter. The Finger Lakes region in upstate NY provides a perfect venue for this expression; its gorges, lakes, and streams are her inspiration.

Helena communes with shapes, textures, and light during daily walks amidst water, rocks, moss and trees. In her new series of photographs Cooper explores the potential for water and earth to nourish, heal and restore the mind, body and soul. At times appearing more like abstract paintings than photographs, the series emphasizes the play of light reflecting upon shapes in nature as colors mix and intermingle and reveal new forms.
