Organizational Development has long been a practice in the world of fore profit corporations. The theory is that it is a field dedicated to expanding the knowledge and effectiveness of people to accomplish more successful organizational change and performance. Nonprofit agencies, in particular human service nonprofits, have opened themselves up to recognizing that their work is a business and that they have a responsibility to deliver to their consumers the best they can offer. CIC recognizes that organizations should be focused on 3 key factors when striving to remain resilient and relevant.
- Organizations must recognize they are accountable to the communities in which they operate and serve. Therefore there is a need to ensure that they are in tuned to needs of its citizens and makes a valiant effort to conquer those needs, even when it challenges the foundational principles of the organization or the system it’s a part of.
- Organizations have a responsibility to their employees to honor their authentic being while supporting them to grow and develop professionally. This means establishing an environment that acknowledges and respects the various societies represented while training them to honor those that they serve and support.
- Organizations have a responsibility to their consumers are dynamic and in a continuous state of change, while providing them with culturally responsive, trauma informed services. This means meeting them where they are (harm reduction model) and providing interventions that honor their authentic being.
CIC partners with agencies to conduct assessments, evaluations, focus groups, staff development sessions and strategic planning. Our philosophy is that these are the tools to transform an organization from good to great.
